MESBA Support & Services

  Assisting in the Steps of Establishing a Maktab

MESBA envisions masjids and communities all around America to provide holistic, Islamic Educational programs for the youth of their localities.  To achieve this vision, MESBA assists in the following capacities:  

• • Promote Initial Awareness of Maktab Education- MESBA can help start the conversation of the importance of maktab with the interested community members of your locality.  
  • Promote General Awareness of Maktab Education- MESBA can help promote general awareness of Islamic Education to your masjid administration and community through programs, workshops, and khutbahs.
  • Assist in forming a maktab committee- MESBA can assist your masjid in forming a Maktab committee consisting of your local community members to oversee and support the functions of the maktab program.
  • Teacher Training- Assist your maktab by providing or recommending specific teacher trainings for your teachers
  • Teacher and Administrator Workshops- MESBA can help conduct teacher and administrator workshops for your maktab faculty
  • Support Documents and Forms- Provide support documents such as registration forms, exam papers, teacher contracts, waiver-forms, and other important documents to run your maktab.  
  • Curriculum Development- Provide curriculum for your maktab such as current Islamic issues, seasonal topics, Western ideologies, and more.  
  • Consultation- Provide Consultation for inquiries related to maktab education.
  • Educational Tracks- Provide Educational Tracks for maktab education, Hifdh programs, Weekend Schools, and Islamic Schools. 
  • Develop maktab standards-Provide Standards for examinations and syllabus

• Help create a self-sufficient maktab- MESBA can help your maktab become self-sufficient, without having to rely on the masjid’s or community’s funds. 

MESBA Coordinator Specific Services: Once there are enough maktabs in your region to justify a MESBA Coordinator, the MESBA coordinator can assist in providing some additional services:  

• Set up parents’ orientations and meetings- MESBA coordinators can help conduct parents’ orientations and meetings. This will help parents communicate with teachers and administrators and ensure healthy progress of their children with regards to their Taleem and Tarbiyyah. 
• Conducting standardized, examinations and observations-  To help the maktab achieve a high-quality standard of education, a MESBA coordinator can conduct the exams in your locality, periodically. MESBA will help with the assessments to ensure that the curriculum has been followed and quality is maintained. Periodic observations of classes can be scheduled, and teachers will be given feedback for improvement.
• Conducting maktab meetings- A MESBA coordinator can help set up regular meetings bi-weekly with the maktab committee, teachers and the maktab principal to ensure constant review and progress of the maktab.
